Bioactivity Virginiamycin M1 (Pristinamycin IIA; Ostreogrycin A), produced by Streptomyces virginiae, is an polyunsaturated macrocyclic lactone antibiotic and acts as a component of Virginiamycin (HY-112665)[1]. Virginiamycin M1 alone is against Staphylococcus aureus with a MIC of 0.25 μg/mL. The combination of Virginiamycin M1 and Virginiamycin S1 (HY-N6680) is 0.125 μg/mL (MIC Value), which can improve the bactericidal effect 1-30 times[2].
