Bioactivity CENTA is a colorimetric cephalosporin substrate for β-lactamases. Upon hydrolysis by β-lacatamases, CENTA turns from light yellow to chrome yellow, which can be quantified by colorimetric detection at 405 nm as a measure of β-lactamase activity.
