Bioactivity Biguanidinium-porphyrin is a mitochondria-targeting photosensitizer. Biguanidinium-porphyrin distributes within cell membranes with a large component in vesicles that correlated to some extent with the lysosomes and, upon longer exposures, in mitochondria and the cytosolic membrane[1].
