Bioactivity ABBV-4083 is an analog of Tylosin A that has potent anti-Wolbachia and anti-filarial activity[1].
In Vivo ABBV-4083 (150 mg/kg, once daily for 14 days) reduces Wolbachia levels (measured 16 weeks post-treatment-initiation, pti) in mice by >99.9% in the recovered female adult worms. Levels of circulating microfilariae declines from ~7 weeks pti and are completely cleared from 12 weeks pti until the end of this study at 16 weeks pti[1]. Animal Model:
