Bioactivity o-Phenanthroline-d8 is the deuterium labeled o-Phenanthroline. o-Phenanthroline (1,10-Phenanthroline), a metal chelator, prevents the induction of chromosomal aberrations in streptozotocin-treated cells. o-Phenanthroline (1,10-Phenanthroline) forms a red chelate with Fe2+ that absorbs maximally at 510 nm. o-Phenanthroline (1,10-Phenanthroline) is also a MMP inhibitor[1][2].
Invitro Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs[1].
