Bioactivity | Verbascose, an alacto-oligosac-charides (GOS), has potent immunostimulatory activity. Verbascose acts as a potential natural immunomodulatory agent[1]. |
Invitro | Verbascose (25, 50, 100, 200, 400 μg/mL; 12, 24, 36, 48 hours) significantly increases the viability of RAW264.7 cells[1]. Verbascose has notable activity of promoting peritoneal macrophages to devour neutral red in a dose-dependent manner and exhibits its maximum activity of cell phagocytosis at a concentration of 200 μg/mL[1]. Verbascose induces significant increases of NO production. Verbascose can enhance the ability of devouring neutral red of peritoneal macrophages and promote the release of nitric oxide and immune reactive molecules such as interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, interferon (IFN)-α, and IFN-γ[1]. |
