Bioactivity | Timcodar mesylate (VX-853-2) and its analog VX-710 are mammalian multidrug-resistant bacterial efflux pump inhibitors that directly inhibit ethidium bromide efflux in Staphylococcus aureus. Timcodar mesylate has the potential to enhance antibiotic activity by inhibiting bacterial efflux pumps, effectively reducing the minimum inhibitory concentration of some antibiotics against Gram-positive pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae[1]. |
