Bioactivity | SMCy5.5 is an SMCy dye used for lipid droplet labeling with a very high two-photon absorption cross-section. SMCy, unlike the well-known lipid droplet marker Nile Red, has narrow absorption and emission bands in visible light, allowing for multicolor imaging. SMCy is shown to be compatible with fixation, producing high-quality 3D images of lipid droplets in cells and tissues. The high brightness of SMCy5.5 enables efficient tracking and imaging of lipid droplet exchange between adipocytes[1]. |
