Bioactivity Propanoic acid-d5 is a deuterated labeled Propanoic acid[1]. Propanoic acid can be synthesized into propionates and used as esterification agent, nitrocellulose solvent, plasticizer, chemical reagent and food preparation raw material. Propionates are microbiota-derived metabolites with intestinal immunomodulatory effects on intestinal cholesterol metabolism. Propionates reduce total blood cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in animal models. Propionates may control dyslipidemia and prevent atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD)[2].
