Bioactivity Paroxetine, a phenylpiperidine derivative, is a potent and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Paroxetine is a very weak inhibitor of norepinephrine (NE) uptake but it is still more potent at this site than the other SSRIs[1].
