| Bioactivity | Palmitoyllactic acid is a long-chain fatty acid with lipogenic activity. Palmitoyllactic acid can induce a brown fat-like phenotype in 3T3-L1 cells. Palmitoyllactic acid enhances the expression of a variety of brown/beige cell-specific genes, such as Prdm16 and Pgc1a. Palmitoyllactic acid acts similarly to PPARγ agonists, significantly enhancing adipogenesis in the presence of dexamethasone. Palmitoyllactic acid can be used in obesity research[1]. |
