Bioactivity | Ouabain is a cardiac glycoside possessing cytotoxicity and anti-apoptotic effects. Ouabain is also an inhibitor of Na+/K+-ATPase. Additionally, Ouabain can act as a biological inductor, triggering regular and low-frequency oscillations of intracellular calcium ions ([Ca2+]i), which in turn may activate the transcription factor NF-κB[1][2]. |
