Bioactivity NTPO (Nitrilotris methylenephosphonic acid) is a DNA damage inducer, causing genomic DNA damage and fragmentation, activating ATR-mediated cell cycle checkpoints. The DNA damaging effects of NTPO are abrogated by base excision repair (BER) but not nucleotide excision repair (NER)[1].
