Bioactivity Mifepristone (RU486) methochloride is a glucocorticoid antagonist that blocks peripheral glucocorticoid and progesterone receptors. Mifepristone methochloride has been shown to have minimal effects on intraocular pressure in treated rabbits. Mifepristone methochloride was developed as a water-soluble formulation to enhance ocular penetration of the drug.
