Bioactivity | Ligustilide is is a bioactive phthalide derivative isolated from Angelica sinensis and Chuanxiong. Ligustilide exhibits neuroprotective, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilator effects[1][2][3]. |
Invitro | Pretreatment with Ligustilide (1 μM, 5 μM, 15 μM) significantly improves cell viability. The apoptosis rate in glutamate-induced PC12 cells is 13.39%, and decreased in the presence of Ligustilide (1 μM, 5 μM, 15 μM) by 9.06%, 6.48%, 3.82%, separately. Extracellular accumulation of Ca2+ induced by glutamate are significantly reduced by Ligustilide. Pretreatment Ligustilide could decrease the release of cytochrome C from mitochondria, down-regulate Caspase-3 protein expression and up-regulate Bcl-2/Bax ratio, thereby protects PC12 cells from apoptosis[2]. |
