Bioactivity Isoforretin A is a bioactive and potent inhibitor against Thioredoxin-1 (Trx1) which triggers ROS-mediated antitumor effects. Isoforretin A suppresses Trx1 activity through covalently binding to the Cys32/Cys35 residues of the activation sites of Trx1 and triggers ROS accumulation, resulting in DNA damage and Apoptosis in cancer cells. Isoforretin A also inhibits the growth of HepG2 tumors in a murine xenograft model of hepatocellular carcinoma[1].
