Bioactivity Ilepatril, a vasopeptidase inhibitor, was investigated in obese Zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) rats as a dual inhibitor of angiotensin converting enzyme and neutral endopeptidase for treating Type 2 diabetic nephropathy. Despite stable diabetes (HbA1c >12%), Ilepatril significantly reduced albuminuria in a dose-dependent manner compared to placebo. This study highlights Ilepatril's efficacy in ameliorating nephropathy symptoms in diabetic rats, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic strategy independent of metabolic control for Type 2 diabetic nephropathy[1].
