Bioactivity Hippuryl-Arg (Bz-Gly-Arg) is a substrate used for fluorescence detection and is commonly used in biochemical studies, especially in studying enzyme activity. The phenylalanine portion of Hippuryl-Arg is connected by an aromatic side chain, which allows it to be detected under ultraviolet light. Hippuryl-Arg is used to detect enzymes that recognize and cut peptide bonds containing arginine[1].
