Bioactivity Dopal is an aldehyde that can be generated in Parkinson's disease by enzymatic degradation of dopamine. Dopal can generate reactive oxygen species, and triggers aggregation of α-synuclein. DOPAL elicits α-synuclein accumulation and hampers α-synuclein clearance in primary neurons[1][2].
