Bioactivity BEC, an arginine analogue, is a slow-binding competitive inhibitor of the binuclear manganese metalloenzyme arginase. BEC enhances substrate flux to NO synthase, thereby enhancing NO-dependent smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum, and enhances penile erection[1].
