Atorvastatin is an orally active HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, has the ability to effectively decrease blood lipids. Atorvastatin is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP3A4 to form 4-hydroxy atorvastatin[1][2].
