Bioactivity 3,4-Diphenyl-5H-furan-2-one is a natural compound isolated from the endophytic fungus Aspergillus flavipes AIL8 derived from the mangrove plant Acanthus ilicifolius. 3,4-Diphenyl-5H-furan-2-one is a derivative of 2,3-diphenyltetrahydrofuran (DPTF), which is a COX-2 inhibitor. 3,4-Diphenyl-5H-furan-2-one can be used as a lead compound for inflammation and pain[1][2].
