Bioactivity | 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is an ethylene inhibitor that irreversibly binds to ethylene receptor, thereby blocking ethylene binding sites. 1-Methylcyclopropene increases the SOD and POD activities. 1-Methylcyclopropene delays the softening of A. arguta fruit and extends its storage and shelf life. 1-Methylcyclopropene delays the degradation of cell wall components, including pectin, cellulose, and hemicellulose, by reducing the activity of cell-wall-modifying enzymes[1][2]. |
