Description | Osteogenic Growth Peptide also called OGP, was originally isolated from cultured regenerating rat bone marrow. The 14-amino acid peptide is identical in sequence to the C-terminus of histone H4. Synthetic OGP stimulates the proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity of osteoblastic cells in vitro and increases bone mass in rats when injected in vivo. This peptide may therefore represent a new class of molecules involved in the systemic control of osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. |
