Biological Activity

Targets Human Endogenous Metabolite
ln Vitro An essential step in cellular metabolism is phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate (PRPP) pentasodium. The following is the process by which PRPP synthase makes PRPP: ribose 5-phosphate + ATP → PRPP + AMP. Living things contain PRPP in large quantities. It is utilized in substitution processes to create glycosidic linkages. The amino acids histidine and tryptophan, the cofactors NAD and tetrahydromethotrexate, arabinose monophosphate, and some aminoglycoside antibiotics are all biosynthesised via PRPP [1]. In human erythrocytes without hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase accumulation, phosphoribosyl diphosphate (5-Phosphoribosyl-l-pyrophosphate) pentasodium is a substrate shared by adenine phosphoribosyltransferase and hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase. Purified adenine phosphoribosyltransferase is stabilized against thermal inactivation by adding 5-phosphoribosyl-l-pyrophosphate [2].

*Note: Please select an appropriate solvent for the preparation of stock solution based on your experiment needs. For most products, DMSO can be used for preparing stock solutions (e.g. 5 mM, 10 mM, or 20 mM concentration); some products with high aqueous solubility may be dissolved in water directly. Solubility information is available at the above Solubility Data section. Once the stock solution is prepared, aliquot it to routine usage volumes and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.
