Description | Toxin GaTx1 is a component of the venom of the yellow scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus hebraeus). Toxin GaTx1 is a chloride channel ligand, it potently and reversibly inhibits cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) chloride channels when the channels are in the interburst closed state. Since Toxin GaTx1 inhibits CFTR only when applied to the cytoplasmic side, it is unlikely that CFTR represents the native target.
