Description SPARC is a transiently expressed extracellular matrix-binding protein that alters cell shape and regulates endothelial cell proliferation in vitro. SPARC (119-122) (mouse) also called KGHK, a copper-binding peptide fragment, has been shown to be a potent stimulator of angiogenesis. Specific degradation of SPARC by proteases of the extracellular fluid may release this bioactive tetrapeptide. Acetylated KGHK is used as cosmetic ingredient.
