Description | The octacosapeptide somatostatin-28 arises from the posttranslational cleavage of prosomatostatin, which in turn is derived from a larger precursor, preprosomatostatin. Somatostatin-28 was first isolated from porcine duodenum. In guinea-pig pancreatic acini, somatostatin-28, unlike somatostatin-14, increased amylase secretion, cellular cyclic GMP, and Ca2+ outfluxes. |
