Description HIV Protease Substrate VII is a peptide with the sequence of KARVY-p-nitro-FEA-Nle-NH2, it is a ideal substrate for HIV-2 protease. This chromogenic substrate is efficiently cleaved by both the HIV-1 and HIV-2 proteases. However, its low Km for the HIV-2 protease makes it the substrate of choice - in conjunction with inhibitor screening - for this enzyme (Km = 25 µM, kcat = 15 s-1).
