Description H-Tyr-Cys-Phe-Ala-Trp-Lys-Thr-Phe-Cys-OH (Disulfide bond) is a selective somatostatin receptor subtype sst4 agonist. In competitive radioligand displacement experiments using the non-selective radioligand ([125I]-(Leu8,D-Trp22,Tyr25)-Somatostatin-28, H-Tyr-Cys-Phe-Ala-Trp-Lys-Thr-Phe-Cys-OH (Disulfide bond) exhibited a high affinity for sst4 with an IC50 value of 2.0 ± 0.5 nM. IC50 values for sst1, sst2, sst3, and sst5 were >1000 nM, 622 ± 85 nM, 624 ± 213 nM, and 692 ± 166 nM, respectively. The nonapeptide YCFAWKTFC may serve as a lead compound or tool for preclinical and clinical studies.
