Description The abundance of Cdc25A fluctuates periodically during the cell division cycle, which is primarily modulated by the ubiquitin-proteasome system, through the action of two ubiquitin ligase complexes, Anaphase Promoting Complex/Cyclosome and Skp1/Cul1/F-box protein. Ubiquitylation and degradation occurs at mitotic exit and in G1 due to the presence of a destruction motif (KEN-box) in Cdc25A, while phosphorylation events regulate Cdc25A protein stability in S phase both in unperturbed cells and in cells exposed to DNA damaging agents or DNA replication inhibitors.
