smMLCK peptide is a specific inhibitor of smooth muscle myosin light chain kinase (smMLCK). smMLCK peptide inhibits kinase activity by mimicking the substrate and competitively inhibiting the binding of the actual substrate to the enzyme. This inhibition prevents the phosphorylation of myosin light chain, thereby inhibiting muscle contraction.
