cis-4-Hydroxy-L-proline, a proline analogue, is an inhibitor (blocker/antagonist) of collagen production. cis-4-Hydroxy-L-proline inhibits fibroblast growth by preventing the deposition of triple-helical collagen on the cell layer. cis-4-Hydroxy-L-proline also suppresses the growth of primary N-nitrosomethylurea-induced rat mammary tumors.

Additional Infomation Cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline is l-Proline in which a hydrogen at the 4-position of the pyrrolidine ring is substituted by a hydroxy group (S-configuration). It has a role as a metabolite. It is a non-proteinogenic L-alpha-amino acid and a 4-hydroxyproline. It is a tautomer of a cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline zwitterion.
cis-4-Hydroxyproline has been reported in Festuca ovina, Festuca pratensis, and other organisms with data available.
A hydroxylated form of the imino acid proline. A deficiency in ASCORBIC ACID can result in impaired hydroxyproline formation.

*Note: Please select an appropriate solvent for the preparation of stock solution based on your experiment needs. For most products, DMSO can be used for preparing stock solutions (e.g. 5 mM, 10 mM, or 20 mM concentration); some products with high aqueous solubility may be dissolved in water directly. Solubility information is available at the above Solubility Data section. Once the stock solution is prepared, aliquot it to routine usage volumes and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze and thaw cycles.
