Quinapril is an orally available, non-peptide and non-thiol angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Quinapril specifically blocks the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II in plasma and tissues. Quinapril is enzymatically hydrolyzed to the pharmacologically active Quinaprilat. Quinapril is effective in models of hypertension.
