Pregnanediol (NSC 1612; NSC 47462; 5β-pregnane-3α,20α-diol), an inactive metabolic product of progesterone, can be formed when the body breaks down the hormone progesterone. A test can be done to measure the amount of pregnanediol in urine, which offers an indirect way to measure progesterone levels in the body. Pregnanediol will be transformed in to Pregnanediol-3-Glucuronide (5β-pregnane-3α,20α-diol-3α-glucuronide, PDG or P3G) eventually.

| Additional Infomation |
Pregnanediol is a corticosteroid hormone. It is a tautomer of a 5beta-pregnane-3beta,20alpha-diol. An inactive metabolite of PROGESTERONE by reduction at C5, C3, and C20 position. Pregnanediol has two hydroxyl groups, at 3-alpha and 20-alpha. It is detectable in URINE after OVULATION and is found in great quantities in the pregnancy urine. |

Ethanol : ~5 mg/mL (~15.60 mM) DMSO : ~2 mg/mL (~6.24 mM) |
| Solubility (In Vivo) |
Solubility in Formulation 1: ≥ 0.5 mg/mL (1.56 mM) (saturation unknown) in 10% EtOH + 90% (20% SBE-β-CD in Saline) (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution. For example, if 1 mL of working solution is to be prepared, you can add 100 μL of 5.0 mg/mL clear EtOH stock solution to 900 μL of 20% SBE-β-CD physiological saline solution and mix evenly. Preparation of 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline (4°C,1 week): Dissolve 2 g SBE-β-CD in 10 mL saline to obtain a clear solution. Solubility in Formulation 2: ≥ 0.5 mg/mL (1.56 mM) (saturation unknown) in 10% EtOH + 90% Corn Oil (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution. For example, if 1 mL of working solution is to be prepared, you can add 100 μL of 5.0 mg/mL clear EtOH stock solution to 900 μL of corn oil and mix evenly.  (Please use freshly prepared in vivo formulations for optimal results.) |
