Methyl blue is a triaminotriphenylmethane dye. Methyl blue is extensively used as an antimicrobial dye in polychromatic staining methods and finds application in histological and microbiological staining solutions. Methyl blue has been used as a model to study the effect of various catalysts on dye photodegradation.
