DNA ligase-IN-2 (compound 2) is a potent LigA inhibitor that inhibits the DNA-independent spontaneous adenylation activity of full-length LigA and truncated LigA:AD (IC50=29 nM). DNA ligase-IN-2 can effectively inhibit the in vitro growth of Staphylococcus aureus, with MIC values of 1, 1, and >64 μg/mL against S. aureus ATCC 29213, S. aureus ATCC 700699, and E. coli ATCC 25922, respectively.
