Cefalothin sodium (Cefalotin sodium) is a potent β-lactam cephalosporin antibiotic agent with a wide range antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits the growth of various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including several strains of S. pyogenes, S. aureus, C. tetani, N. gonorrhoeae, Salmonella, and Shigella.

Additional Infomation |
Cephalothin sodium is an organic sodium salt. It contains a cefalotin. Cephalothin Sodium is the sodium salt form of cephalothin, a semisynthetic, beta-lactam, first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity. Cephalothin binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBP) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. PBPs participate in the terminal stages of assembling the bacterial cell wall, and in reshaping the cell wall during cell division. Inactivation of PBPs interferes with the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains necessary for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. This results in the weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis. A cephalosporin antibiotic. |
Solubility Data
Solubility (In Vitro) |
H2O : 50~83 mg/mL (~119.50 mM; 超声助溶) DMSO : 10 ~50 mg/mL (23.89 ~119.50 mM) |
Solubility (In Vivo) |
Solubility in Formulation 1: ≥ 2.5 mg/mL (5.97 mM) (saturation unknown) in 10% DMSO + 40% PEG300 + 5% Tween80 + 45% Saline (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution. For example, if 1 mL of working solution is to be prepared, you can add 100 μL of 25.0 mg/mL clear DMSO stock solution to 400 μL PEG300 and mix evenly; then add 50 μL Tween-80 to the above solution and mix evenly; then add 450 μL normal saline to adjust the volume to 1 mL. Preparation of saline: Dissolve 0.9 g of sodium chloride in 100 mL ddH₂ O to obtain a clear solution. Solubility in Formulation 2: ≥ 2.5 mg/mL (5.97 mM) (saturation unknown) in 10% DMSO + 90% (20% SBE-β-CD in Saline) (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution. For example, if 1 mL of working solution is to be prepared, you can add 100 μL of 25.0 mg/mL clear DMSO stock solution to 900 μL of 20% SBE-β-CD physiological saline solution and mix evenly. Preparation of 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline (4°C,1 week): Dissolve 2 g SBE-β-CD in 10 mL saline to obtain a clear solution. Solubility in Formulation 3: 10% DMSO+40% PEG300+5% Tween-80+45% Saline: ≥ 2.5 mg/mL (5.97 mM) Solubility in Formulation 4: 50 mg/mL (119.50 mM) in PBS (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution; with ultrasonication.  (Please use freshly prepared in vivo formulations for optimal results.) |
