Biological Activity
| ln Vitro | Because the majority of ascarosides trigger the production of long-lived, extremely stress-resistant dauer larvae, they are frequently referred to as "dauer pheromones"[1]. |

| Additional Infomation |
Ascr#7 is an (omega-1)-hydroxy fatty acid ascaroside obtained by formal condensation of the alcoholic hydroxy group of (2E,6R)-6-hydroxyhept-2-enoic acid with ascarylopyranose (the alpha anomer). A metabolite of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, it is weakly dauer inducing and a weak male-attractant. It has a role as a Caenorhabditis elegans metabolite and a pheromone. It is an alpha,beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid and an (omega-1)-hydroxy fatty acid ascaroside. It is functionally related to a (2E,6R)-6-hydroxyhept-2-enoic acid. It is a conjugate acid of an ascr#7(1-). 2-Heptenoic acid, 6-[(3,6-dideoxy-alpha-L-arabino-hexopyranosyl)oxy]-, (2E,6R)- has been reported in Caenorhabditis elegans with data available. |
Solubility Data
| Solubility (In Vitro) |
DMSO: 200 mg/mL (729.10 mM) H2O: 100 mg/mL (364.55 mM) |
| Solubility (In Vivo) |
Solubility in Formulation 1: ≥ 5 mg/mL (18.23 mM) (saturation unknown) in 10% DMSO + 90% Corn Oil (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution. For example, if 1 mL of working solution is to be prepared, you can add 100 μL of 50.0 mg/mL clear DMSO stock solution to 900 μL of corn oil and mix evenly. Solubility in Formulation 2: 100 mg/mL (364.55 mM) in PBS (add these co-solvents sequentially from left to right, and one by one), clear solution; with ultrasonication.  (Please use freshly prepared in vivo formulations for optimal results.) |
