Description Calconcarboxylic acid, an azo dye, serves as a silver-ion sensitizer for staining proteins in SDS-PAGE gels. It enhances silver binding to protein bands or spots through the formation of a silver-dye complex and augments the reducing power of the (sodium dodecyl sulfate [SDS]) solution.
