Description Safflower yellow (Saffron powder) is extracted from the flowers of the plant safflower (Carthamus tinctorius). As traditional Chinese medicine, safflower has been extensively used for the treatment of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases.
In vivo Safflower yellow is extracted from safflower, which is one of Chinese herbal medicines. Safflower Yellow is a mixture of water-soluble chalcone components, of which Hydroxy Safflower Yellow A (HSYA) and Safflower Yellow B (SYB) are the main components. Safflower yellow can activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and improve capillary circulation at the site of tissue damage. Injection of safflower can improve cardiac systolic and dilated functions, increase coronary blood flow, enhance bcl-2 protein expression, and have good cardioprotective effects. Safflower yellow can also reduce the adhesion and inflammatory reaction of injured tendon, and promote the repair of injured tendon [1].
