Description | Cyclopentanol is a plant sterol compound and one of the key precursors for biosynthesis of various sterol compounds. Cycloartenol inhibits the migration of glioma cells and inhibits the phosphorylation of p38 MAP kinase. Cycloenol has various pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, antibiotic and anti-Alzheimer's disease. Cyclopentenol also plays an important role in plant growth and development. |
In vitro | Cycloartenol inhibits the proliferation and colony forming potential of glioma U87 cells in a concentration-dependent manner. It was found that the anti-proliferative effect is due to the induction of Sub-G1 cell cycle arrest and triggering apoptosis. Cyclopentenol also caused significant changes in Bax and Bcl-2 expression. |
