| Description | Anabasine ((S)-Anabasine) is an alkaloid extracted from tobacco. Anabasine is a full agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) with insecticidal activity. Anabasine depolarizes TE671 cells endogenously expressing human myotypic nAChRs. |
| In vivo | Anabasine significantly reverses the impairment at doses of 0.2 mg/kg (p<0.05) and 2 mg/kg (p<0.025). When administered alone, Anabasine does not have any significant effects on response latency. Interestingly, the 0.06 mg/kg Anabasine dose exacerbates the dizocilpine-induced impairment, showing a significant increase in non-response trials (p<0.05) compared with dizocilpine alone. It's important to note that none of the Anabasine doses affect choice accuracy on their own[2]. |
