Bioactivity Protriptyline (N-methyl-d3) (hydrochloride) is the deuterium labeled Protriptyline hydrochloride. Protriptyline hydrochloride is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA), specifically a secondary amine, for the treatment of depression and ADHD. Unique among the TCAs, protriptyline tends to be energizing instead of sedating, used for narcolepsy to achieve a wakefulness-promoting effect[1].
Invitro Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs[1].
