Bioactivity Phloracetophenone (2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone) is the aglycone part of acetophenone glycoside obtained from Curcuma comosa Roxb, with cholesterol-lowering activity. Phloracetophenone enhances cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) activity[1]. Phloracetophenone stimulats bile secretion mediated through Mrp2[2].
Invitro Phloracetophenone (2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone) is a cholesterol-lowering agent, enhances cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) activity, and elevates CYP7A1 mRNA level[1].Phloracetophenone (1, 2, and 4 μmol/min) immediately and dose-dependently increases bile acid-independent bile flow in the isolated perfused rat liver[2].
