Bioactivity | EtS-DMAB (HClO-green) is a fluorescent probe, which can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) (λex=440 nm, λem=610 nm). EtS-DMAB is applied to image exogenous and endogenous HOCl in live cells[1].
Invitro | EtS-DMAB can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) over other reactive oxygen species in aqueous solution with a large stokes shift (∼170 nm). It turns out that oxidation of the thioether to the corresponding sulfoxide accounts for the turn-on fluorescence[1].
